Singapore — Kampong Lorong Buangkok, Singapore

Visiting ‘old’ Singapore

June 2016

Tucked away down a side street in Singapore is Kampong Lorong Buangkok, Lorong Buangkok, 547557, Singapore.

Kampong Lorong Buangkok is an interesting place as it is one of the last examples of “old Singapore” — that is, it is one of the last areas in Singapore not to be heavily redeveloped.

The Kampong is a little tricky to find as it is tucked away down a very narrow road. The Kampong is not big and only consists of a few small lanes and half a dozen houses.

The word Kampong is Malay for village.

Overall, an intriguing little place and a real “time capsule” in the overdeveloped landscape of Singapore.
