I saw many people selling birds in Yangon (Rangoon), and I was not sure why.

Pets?

And I hate to say it… food?

I assume pets?

Also, as with most towns and cities, there was a significant pigeon population.

And then, of course, there were the bird feeders in a lot of the trees.
