When visiting a town, I always like to try the local restaurants.

In Miri, I spotted Muara Restauran Malaysian Restaurant and Indonesian Restaurant on North Yu Seng Street, 98000 Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia, so I popped in for dinner.

At the Muara, I had the Lalapan chicken.

The Sambal belacan midin.

And some deep-fried squid.

All of which were excellent and ridiculously cheap.

My advice when travelling — eat local. Find a restaurant off the beaten tourist path full of locals, and enjoy.

Of course, you may want a beer after a meal, so I went to the Ming Cafe | 明店, Corner of Jalan North Yu Seng (Jalan Merbau), 98000 Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia. They offered good deals on beer and a range of local dishes for you to try.
