Well, that was odd

As I returned from the Tamarind Restaurant to my hotel — Le Bel Air Resort — I passed Utopia.

I had seen Utopia advertised a lot around town and heard several people talking about it. So, I decided to pop in for a look.

I called it at around 8 pm, and I suspect that was too early to get the full experience.

The place was a little tricky to find, and I had to take a marked path off the road and walk down a cobbled path while following the occasional sign.

I can only describe Utopia as a sort of Après-Ski Bar in Laos. It was pretty odd.

It was overpriced, as I paid 1.5x what I had been paying for beer in the town centre.

The bar was very dark. The Wi-Fi was slow to the point of being almost nonexistent. And it did have a volleyball court.

I suspected that I wasn’t the target audience for Utopia and that if I was, I was there far too early.

I headed off to my hotel and bed.
